What's Up Wednesday 6/4/14

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme for readers and writers to give updates on what's happening in their lives. If you want to find out to find out more check out Jamie Morrow's blog and sign up.

What I'm Reading: Oops. I didn't read this week. I've been so busy with these edits and stuff, I just kind of forgot...

What I'm Writing: I'm so close with these edits. It's defiantly taking longer than I thought. I'm adding bits and smoothing out transitions. I knocked out a large chunk the other day and then the next day I barely dented it. It's really a mental thing. I honestly need one more day like that. But I am participating in Ready, Set, Write, that might be the kick in the pants I need.

What Inspires Me Right Now:
I've been chatting with some writers around my age  from Camp NaNoWriMo. We met through the forums and really clicked. It's great talking with writers and bouncing ideas off them. They're really going to help me with the

What Else and I've Been Up To:
I'm not as bored now that I have my writing group. I still miss, you know, human contact, but it's nice to have people to talk to. We've been sharing book recommendations and It's great to talk with people who are in the same age group that have a serious love for writing. Especially ones who understand the stress of college and writing. I'm excited to see what's in store.
I'M GOING TO SEE THE FAULT IN OUR STARS TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!
I bought my ticket to The Night Before Our Stars and I'm super excited. I'm going to ugly cry during this movie. I'm glad I'm going by myself because I don't want to cry in front of my friends.I'm so grateful that the fans are lucky enough to have this experience. I've been following John Green's vlogs throughout this journey, and if he loves the movie, I'll love the movie. A lot of book-to-film adaptations suck because they loose the essence of the books when translated to the screen. I don't care if scenes happen in the wrong place or "that's not how that line goes." As long as the movie understands the story it's telling and the impact it has on so many lives, than it will be fantastic.

What's Up Wednesday 5/28/14

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme for readers and writers to give updates on what's happening in their lives. If you want to find out to find out more check out Jamie Morrow's blog and sign up.

What I'm Reading: I've taken a break from reading due to my overwhelming amount of boredom and frustration. I just havn't felt like reading. We all have one of those weeks. Right?

What I'm Writing: Working on SoD edits and outlining a new story that's been rattling around in my brain. I registered for Camp NaNoWriMo to use July to write it. That will give me plenty of time to finish my edits and junk before I start writing. The edits are going painfully slow. I'm glad I got it done on paper first because going through the Word document and making changes is the worst.  But whatever, a writer's gotta do what a writer's gotta do.

What Inspires Me Right Now:
I love getting new ideas. It's like everything needs to stop until I write down all of the character traits and scene ideas. I haven't been this inspired about outlining a story since SoD for NaNoWriMo in 2012. It feels great.

What Else and I've Been Up To:
I'm so bored. This waiting is killing me. I'm at the point where I just want an answer so I can move on. Being a Post-Grad is the worst. (A lot of things are the worst in my opinion, ex. socks with sandals.) Everything I do from this moment forward will affect my future. It's a scary thought.

What's Up Wednesday 5/21/14

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme for readers and writers to give updates on what's happening in their lives. If you want to find out to find out more check out Jamie Morrow's blog and sign up.

What I'm Reading: I'm still working on Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins. But I went to the bookstore last weekend and I picked up Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige and Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins. I devoured both books in three days. What I loved about Dorothy Must Die is the fact that it draws from the entire Wizard of Oz world from the other books. But this story adds a dark twist to the tale. I'm really excited to see the story and the world develop. I read Rebel Belle soon after. It's so funny. Unfortunately I didn't know it was part of a series, so I have to wait another year for the next book.

What I'm Writing: I got my laptop back! Whoot. I'm still working on SoD edits. I'm setting a goal to have the edits finished by Friday and type it up over the weekend. I'm going to send it to a friend or someone read it. I've been working on this for almost two years so it needs a second set of eyes before I do anything stupid like send it off. If anyone would just like to read it let me know. Once that's out of the way I'll start working on my next idea. Baby steps.

What Inspires Me Right Now:
Getting things done. That's inspiration right?

What Else and I've Been Up To:
I graduated college a week and a half ago.
Crazy right?
Sometimes I don't think it's real. Sometimes I think that the school is going to call me and say "Sorry Leslie, you didn't actually graduate. I'm going to have to take back the cap." It's weird. After high school graduation I knew what was next, college. Now that it's over I have my whole life ahead of me. I'm in the limbo stage with a couple of internship so I've been a little on edge these past couple weeks. Hopefully I'll hear news soon. Whether it's good or bad, I need to keep my chin up.

What's Up Wednesday 5/7/14

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme for readers and writers to give updates on what's happening in their lives. If you want to find out to find out more check out Jamie Morrow's blog and sign up.

Hello again. I'm back and better than ever. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I am ready to spend more time on reading, writing, and blogging. The WUW community has been so supportive and understanding over the year and I can't wait to finally be able to keep up with their blogs and work.

What I'm Reading: I've started Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins. I just started, but there are already so many feels. It feels good to get back into reading. Since I started school, I've hardly been able to read for pleasure. When i was in high school I would finish 2 books a week. I read 100 books in a year once. Those were the days. Anyway it will take me a while to get back into the groove of things.

What I'm Writing: Still no laptop. But I will be getting it back by the end of the week. Everything on my hard drive is safe thankfully. In the meantime I'm editing my printed out manuscript Suspension of Disbelief. It's going to be my new summer project. I'm actually excited to actually have time to develop the story more. Once I get my laptop back I'll start typing this new story idea. I hand wrote some of the first chapter and I'm really excited. More details later.

What Inspires Me Right Now:
Breathing. Breathing inspires me. blerg. I'm not good with inspiration.

What Else and I've Been Up To: I'm graduating in three days. Crazy right? i finished my last final and picked up the cap and gown. I still can't believe it. After four years of struggle, tears and stress I can finally breathe. I think the scary part of this is trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my life. I haven't worked on a show in a while and I'm itching to get back in the game. But I still need to make a living. I can't live at home with my parents forever. I'll figure it out, I'm sure. But right now I'm just enjoying the freedom.

That's my week. What's up with you? How is your week going?

What's Up Wednesday 4/16/14

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme for readers and writers to give updates on what's happening in their lives. If you want to find out to find out more check out Jamie Morrow's blog and sign up.
I've been gone a long time and it's time for me to get back into the game. Unfortunately I have to keep this short, because I'm working on a paper. But I just wanted to let you all know that I'm back and I can't wait to catch up.

What I'm Reading: I'm still working on Perfect Lies by Kiersten White. I haven't had much time to finish reading it. School's almost over, hopefully I'll have a little more free time soon.

What I'm Writing: More school work. But I'm trying to squeeze in my edits of Suspension of Disbelief. My laptop explode (what's new) but I printed out the entire thing weeks ago and I haven't put in any changes so everything is handwritten at this point. Don't worry. It's backed up. So if I finish before I get my laptop back, I can make the edits on any computer.
I have an idea for a new story, but since I'm laptopless, I'm hesitant to start. Sometimes I feel like an idea factory. But when it comes to production, everything comes to a screeching halt. I keep telling myself when school is over it will be easier. But I don't know anymore. When I get a real person job, will that eat up just as much time and energy as college?

What Inspires Me Right Now:
THREE.
MORE.
WEEKS.

What Else and I've Been Up To: Other than my exploding laptop, nothing really. I have a dance concert next week that I'm working on, but nothing really new. I'm trying to finish school with my sanity intact. But I think that ship sailed months ago. Oh well.

That's my week. What's up with you? How is your week going?

What's Up Wednesday 4/9/14

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme for readers and writers to give updates on what's happening in their lives. If you want to find out to find out more check out Jamie Morrow's blog and sign up.
I've been gone a long time and it's time for me to get back into the game. Unfortunately I have to keep this short, because I'm working on a paper. But I just wanted to let you all know that I'm back and I can't wait to catch up.

What I'm Reading: I'm reading Perfect Lies by  Kiersten White. I loved Mind Games and I couldn't wait for the sequel. Kiersten White is the queen of cliffhanger endings. I'll hopefully have it finished by next week.

What I'm Writing: UGH I HAVE A 10 PAGED THEATRE HISTORY PAPER DUE TOMORROW!!!! Research papers are hard. But I like my topic. I'm writing about how Dionysus is used as a character in Greek theatre and what it accomplishes. It's going to be good. I hope. I just want to get this done with.

What Inspires Me Right Now: The light at the end of the tunnel. Seriously I graduate in a month. I just need to keep pushing through. I'm at the point in the semester when everything from all my classes is due. Blerg.

What Else and I've Been Up To: Long story short. School. Theatre. Job search. Long story long, I posted for the first time in months on Saturday. If you really want to know where I disappeared to these past couple months go here.

That's my week. What's up with you? How is your week going?

Where I've Been

Wow, it's been a while hasn't it. I mean it's to be expected right? I start school saying I'm going to keep up with the blog, but the minute I get busy with school or theatre everything falls apart. But you might not have to worry about that any more. I'M ALMOST DONE WITH COLLEGE!

Holy crap, how the years have flown by. I started this blog at the end of my senior year in high school with
I closed my last  college production as stage manager.
.My parents took a picture my picture on the slideshow.
stars in my eyes. This started out as a column in my high school newspaper. I was then informed that nobody liked reading about me in the school newspaper, show I shifted to the internet. I was graduating anyway, and I always wanted to run a blog. I was revising my first novel after 50 rejections from agents. I wanted to find my place in this crazy world of publishing. It took a long time for me to find my place in the blog world. I intended to do book reviews and other reading and writing related stuff, but it didn't excited me. I did challenges and hosted contest with very little success. It took me a while to realize what I wanted this blog to be and I'm still not sure where it's going. Things change. I grow up and things that were important to me four years ago seem less so now. Don't get me wrong I have every intention to continue writing and trying to get published. It's just now I see what a huge time commitment it is to have other jobs and responsibilities while trying to write.

Honestly, I never will be a full time writer. I want a career in theatre and a writing career. I can have both right? There are a lot of young adult writers with other jobs and careers. What can't I be one of them. Writing has my heart, but theatre has my soul. I spoke with a professional stage manager about my future and expectations. He said, "Will you be happy doing anything other than theatre?" Without hesitation I said, "No." It was right then and there when I realized theatre will always be a part of me. I can't change it. As for writing, I can't shake that either. Even if I never get published, I will always be a writer.

Now What?
Since I'm graduating in a month, I've been getting this question a lot. Sure I have plan. I plan on working in theatre for as long as possible. It's funny that I ever thought I would have any control over this. My resume is out there with several theatre companies, but I am still in limbo. And it SUCKS. I'm not going to comment on the search anymore, be cause if you already go to school with me you know I will not shut up about my future.
EDITING!
I've found something that takes my mind off of this pesky job search. Suspension of Disbelief. My 2012 NaNo Novel. I think I mentioned before that I finished draft number 2/I finally wrote the ending over the summer. After a couple rewrites and months of opening the document and rereading the first few chapters over and over again, I'm finally giving the manuscript a good polish. I gave myself a deadline so I can stay on track. It's a good distraction.

Will things be different from now on? Who knows. The four years I've spent running this blog. Haven't been for nothing. I've meet a great community of bloggers and writers through YA Highways Road Trip Wednesday and What's Up Wednesday. I'm going to try to get back into the groove of things, but you know me, breaking promises and being inconsistent is kind of my thing. It shouldn't be, but I have a four year track record of it.

Happy Reading!
