What I'm Reading: Nothing, but queries, and sample pages on the WriteOnCon Forums. Don't know what WriteOnCon is? Check it out here

What I'm Writing:  Critiques. I'm going to try to read more 5 page samples today on the forum. It's hard for me to read these because of various reasons such as: format, my short attention span, or it's not the genre I'm interested. I'm going to try to get at least 5 done by the end of the day. Wish me luck.

What Inspires Me Right Now: 
WriteOnCon. There are many great writers, it can be overwhelming. Not a peep from a Ninja Agent, I'm not terribly worried. What happens, happens. I'm just glad I can be a part of such a wonderful writing community.

Ready, Set, Write: The End

Wow 12 weeks flew by like crazy. I've had such a great time following everyone's journey.


1.  How I did on last week’s goals: I did not get any chapters done. I got distracted by WriteOnCon. It's fine, I'll figure something out.

2.  recap of overall writing progress this summer
Holy cow what a summer. I checked back to my first post this summer and I said I wanted Suspension of Disbelief to be query ready by the end of the summer. Well, I've been keeping this hush, hush, but it is. Just in time for WriteOnCon.
I also wrote a freaking novel in 30 days! What? It'a a piece of crap and I'm probably going to burn it, but I did it.
Everything about this summer has been crazy and wonderful. I don't think I could have done any of this without everyone's support.

3.  A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised: 
Nonexistent

4.  The biggest challenge I faced this week: Motivation. yeah, I sucked this week. But WriteOnCon...

5.  Something I love about my WIP: 
Um, I love in Unremarkable that I have a mind reading character. So my MC talks and thinks really fast and the mind reader just laughs at her randomly and she doens't know why (until she finds out, of course). I'm contemplating switching the present tense to have more stream of consciousnesses thoughts in the narration, but I'm still debating.

What I'm Reading: I took a break from Endlessly I love the trilogy and Kiersten White's writing, but I needed something new. So I read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and HOLY CRAP it's so good. I finished that bad boy in a day. Definitely a change of pace from what I've been reading. It's dark, and has more of a thriller/horror vibe than most of the paranormal romances I read. AND I STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S HAPPENING. I need to get the sequel ASAP.
Also I desperately need to read Isla and the Happily Ever After. I'm not the biggest contemporary YA fan, but Stephanie Perkins has me hooked.

What I'm Writing:  I'm working on that old WiP and I'm debating on where to begin. When first started writing it, I started in the middle of the "happenings" so to speak. But I scrapped that early in the process, and my original opening became chapter 6 or something. I'm probably going to go back and start it how I originally intended, We'll see.

What Inspires Me Right Now: 
Reading? Writing? Chocolate?

What Else and I've Been Up To: 

Real life. It's weird dudes.

Ready, Set, Write! Slow Week

I can't believe it's almost over summer's gone by so fast.


1.  How I did on last week’s goals: I read through some of Unremarkable and it's not pretty.

2.  My goal(s) for this week:
This week I want to start rewriting and get at least two new chapters done.

3.  A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised: 
Since I didn't write anything here's a bit from the craptastic Unremarkable

“Christopher said, and I quote, ‘it’s Val what’s not to like’.” I began to dance around her singing: “Val and Christopher sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G—”
“Knock it off,” she shoved me. “Sometimes I wonder why we’re friends.”
“Because I’m awesome and you love me.”

“My tolerance of your antics grows weaker with each passing day.” She laughed.

4.  The biggest challenge I faced this week: Reading through an old abandoned MS is rough.

5.  Something I love about my WIP: 
I love how friendship is the center of Unremarkable and not the romance.

What I'm Reading: I haven't touched  Endlessly by all week. I'll get to it eventually. I had so much more free time before I moved...

What I'm Writing:  I took a much needed break last week. I'm bringing an old unfinished MS back from the grave. That's about it. I'm not touching my NaNo project for another three weeks. It's for the best.

What Inspires Me Right Now: 
Oh look over there...a thing! **scurries and hides from the question**

What Else and I've Been Up To: 

It's weird seeing all of my college friends post about heading back to campus and getting ready for the start of the school year. I'm not saying that I want to be back in school, the thought of that give me chills, it's just different. For as long as can remember I've always gone back to school in August. Now it's just real life and IT'S FREAKING ME OUT. 

I'll be fine, once I get a job and figure out this life stuff.

What I'm Reading: Still reading on Endlessly by Kiersten White. It's been a slow week.

What I'm Writing:  Last Wednesday, I finally finished my Camp NaNoWriMo novel. Right now I'm taking a wee break from writing, then I'm going to attempt to rewrite my old WiP Unremarkable, I kind of threw it aside to work on Suspension of Disbelief back in 2012 and I haven't picked it up since. I love the concept, but it's executed poorly. It's only halfway done, but if I start fresh, it might give me that push I need to complete it.

What Else and I've Been Up To: 

Still adjusting to the move, trying to find jobs and stuff. Not much else is going on in my life.

Ready, Set, Write! Brain Freeze

Over the next few months I will be checking in with Jaime and the gang to answer a few questions about my writing week.


1.  How I did on last week’s goals: I FINISHED!!! The 50k and the novel. It's surprisingly short, but I hope to add another 5-10k in revisions.

2.  My goal(s) for this week:
None this week. I'm recovering from NaNo. I'm going to let this sit for a month while I figure out what my next project is going to be. But for now. I rest.

3.  A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised: 
I know I've been doing single lines, but since I finished I will share a little more. It's rough, but I liked this bit between Lucinda and Xander.

Xander stumbled out of his cage. “Lucinda, I’m so sorry. I was caught outside a portal and dragged here. I’m sorry I ruined your prom night.” Xander collapsed in my arms. “I’m okay,” he groaned.
“I don’t care about prom,” I said. “Okay, I’m lying, but I came for you, didn't I? You were in distress, my little damsel."
“So you felt it,” he smiled weakly. “Sucks doesn’t it?”
“Yeah, I felt it,” I said as we touched foreheads. “Never do that again or I will personally set fire to your car.”

4.  The biggest challenge I faced this week: Finishing before my brain melted.
